The renovation of an existing home for a young family in the Fremont neighborhood of Oakland is an exercise in re-invention. Our client grew up in the home, left for his early life, and returned with his wife to raise their son. The project provides a much needed opportunity to take the history of the space, and re-define it for their specific needs and lifestyle. 

The goal of the project is to open the home from east to west in order to integrate the site as much as possible. The layout shifts to allow for privacy between the parents and child, as well as allow of spaces to gather, play, and entertain.
